How many seats are in the stadium?
There are 6,500 seats in the main stadium. The outside courts seat 1650.

Can I sit in the shade?
All stadiums and courts are outside and open-air. All courts are situated on a north/south plan, so at some time during the day you will be sitting in the sun.  Many people prefer the West section because at the end of the day the sun is not directly in their face.

What does my ticket entitle me to?
The ticket purchased is for a reserved seat in the main stadium. Ticket holders are free to wander the grounds and watch any matches on the outer courts. There can be as many as 4 courts used each day session through Friday. Night sessions, Saturday and Sunday matches are usually limited to the main stadium. Seating on the outer courts is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What time do the gates open for day session matches?
Sat – Sun, July 28-29 gates open at 9 a.m.
Monday – Friday, July 30 – August 3, gates open at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, August 4 gates open at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, August 5 gates open at 11:00 a.m.

What time is the evening session ticket valid at the gates?
Evening session tickets allow you to access the grounds at 5:30 p.m.  If day matches are still being held you will not be allowed to enter the stadium court until the matches are finished.  Patrons are allowed into the Acura Gallery and Pavilion where there is seating, concessions and activities.  Once the stadium court is cleared of day session patrons then evening session patrons will be allowed in.

Does my child need a ticket?
Children under the age of 2 are not required to have a ticket, provided they sit on your lap and do not inconvenience the other tennis fans. If they require a seat, a ticket will have to be purchased.

What if I lose my ticket?
Tickets will be replaced for the original ticket purchaser at a cost of $5.00 each. If replacement tickets are ordered over the phone, they will not be mailed out but put in Will Call. Photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets will be required to pick them up.

Where is the wheelchair seating?
The wheelchair sections are located on the sides and corners of the Stadium Box and East Loge areas of the stadium. The disabled person must be in a wheelchair to sit in these sections and can have one companion accompanying him/her.

What if I am disabled but not in a wheelchair?
If the person is not in a wheelchair but is semi-ambulatory, seating will be available in the East Loge or Grandstand on an aisle and/or near an entrance for comfort and easy access. Please keep in mind that any location in the stadium is a fair walk and there are stairs that need to be negotiated.

The Acura Classic’s goal is to provide an enjoyable and positive experience for persons with disabilities.  The Guest Services committee was created to provide assistance to persons with mobility impairments to get to their seats.  An accessible golf cart, that is also equipped to accommodate a wheelchair, operates inside the parking lot for persons with disabilities.  Please contact the volunteers at the front gate or at the will-call booth if you need assistance.

Do you have Handicapped Parking?
If you have a handicap placard, sticker or license plate issued by the DMV, you will be allowed to park in the designated handicap parking in front of the main entrance.

When will my tickets be mailed?
Tickets are mailed mid-June. If you do not receive your tickets by July 5th, please contact our box office. Tickets ordered after July 13, 2007 will be held in Will Call.  To pick up tickets from Will Call, photo I.D. and credit card used to order will be required.

Where is Will Call during the tournament?
Will Call is located adjacent to the Box Office.  The Box office is located at La Costa Resort and Spa.  To pick up tickets during the event you should park in the temporary parking lot located inside the main entrance off of Costa Del Mar and El Camino Real.  Parking attendants will direct you to the proper temporary parking spaces.

How do I get there?
Directions and driving times:
Directions Coming from Los Angeles (Approximately 90 minute drive)
I-405 South to I-5. Continue South to La Costa Avenue exit. Turn left (East) onto La Costa Avenue. Drive approx. 1 1/2 miles to El Camino Real, and turn left (North). The entrance to La Costa is approx. 1/4 mile on the right-hand side.

Coming from San Diego (Approximately 45 minute drive)
Traffic to La Costa during tournament week can get very congested, so we suggest:

Or you may take I-5 North to La Costa Avenue exit. Turn right (East) onto La Costa Avenue. Drive approx. 1 1/2 miles to El Camino Real, and turn left (North). The entrance to La Costa is approx. 1/4 mile on the right-hand side.

How do I volunteer?
Volunteers are expected to pledge a minimum of four shifts lasting 4-5 hours each and must attend one of two orientations of approximately two hours. At the orientation, you will be provided with a volunteer packet consisting of your tournament credential, parking pass, an attractive uniform shirt (to be worn with your own navy or white pants or shorts), sweatshirt, hat, fanny pack and valuable information about the 2005 tournament. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Which is the best day to attend?
Every fan finds a different day or session to his or her liking. There are more matches earlier in the week and during day sessions. As the week progresses, the excitement builds as the field narrows and the players fight to win the coveted titles.

What is not allowed inside the stadium?
No large bags, coolers, umbrellas, strollers or hardback stadium seats.  Video cameras and flash photography are not allowed.  Please be aware that all persons are subject to search and above items must be returned to your vehicle.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation.  Only small purses and items for personal health care that do not exceed 8” x 11” x 11” will be allowed on site.

May we bring food/beverage?
We do not allow coolers or thermos containers, etc. on grounds.  Small, plastic water bottles are OK.  Due to added security, all backpacks, purses, etc., will be searched. Please be prepared for some delays when entering the grounds. We appreciate your patience. Food and beverages are sold on the grounds during the event.

May I smoke in the stadium?
No smoking is allowed at any of the courts.  Smoking is permitted outside the stadium gates in designated areas.

What if it rains?
Every attempt will be made to play any/all scheduled matches in the event of inclement weather. In the event of rain, we will try to accommodate the ticket holder on a subsequent session, based on availability. There is no guarantee that ticket holders can be accommodated.

What can I do if I am unable to use my tickets?
Reselling tickets is illegal in the City of Carlsbad. However you can donate them to a charity of your choice or give them to a friend.

Is the tournament televised?
The tournament is seen on ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel in the United States and on various networks around the world.
Click here for full TV Schedule.

How is the draw made?
The draw is made the same way at every tournament on the WTA tour. First, names of the 16 seeds (the 16 highest-ranked players in the draw) are placed in the draw (No. 1 on the first line, No. 2 on the last line and then the others in alternating order on pre-determined lines). Once the seeds are in place, the other players are drawn at random and placed on the empty lines – starting at the top and going down the draw until it is filled.

How is the schedule determined?
The schedule is made with input from the WTA, the players, television and the tournament director. The tournament director makes requests based on what they feel is in the best interest of the fans.

When is the schedule determined?
During the tournament, the schedule is made each evening and it is usually available no later than 7 p.m. It is then posted at www.acuraclassic.com and on our Ticket Information Line at 760.438.5683.

Can you tell me when a particular player will play?
In a single elimination tournament, only one player from each match advances and since no one knows who will win or lose no one knows who will play until the evening before.
However, every effort is made to announce when the top players will play their first match.  You can contact the box office the first weekend, July 28-29, to get match updates.

How big is the draw?
