CARLSBAD, CA, April 03, 2006 – The 2006 Acura Classic, to be held July 29 - August 6 at the La Costa Resort & Spa, today announced that it is accepting volunteer applications for the upcoming tournament. Acura Classic volunteers work in a variety of areas, including Ushers, Ticket-Takers, Gatekeepers, Player/Guest Reception, Court Services, Media Center, Transportation, Will Call and more.
“We have a very loyal group of volunteers who make our tournament successful every summer, many of whom tell us that they look forward to the event all year long,“ says Jane Stratton of Promotion Sports. “We work with over 600 volunteers at the tournament. There’s always room for some first-timers and we look forward to welcoming many new faces into the Acura Classic family this year.”

The Acura Classic, now in its 23rd year, is one of the largest women’s tennis tournaments in the world. Recent winners include Mary Pierce, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Lindsay Davenport, Venus Williams and Martina Hingis.
