Acura Classic Opportunity Tournament Winners Ready for Main Draw Challenge

Three up-and- coming American teenagers, who each won an Acura Classic Opportunity tournament, were ready to play in the qualifying draw of the 2007 Acura Classic, but instead received wild cards into the main draw.

Fifteen-year-old Brittany Augustine of Carson, 15-year-old Coco Vandeweghe of Rancho Santa Fe and 16-year-old Asia Muhammed of Las Vegas will play in the main draw of the 2007 Acura Classic at the La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad.

Augustine, who trains at the USTA West Coast Training Center at the Home Depot Center in Carson, drew a qualifier in her first-round match.

Muhammed will play fellow American Vania King of Long Beach in her first-round main draw match. Last month, Muhammed, who trains at the Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club in Las Vegas, won her first career pro singles title at the Houston Pro Tennis Classic, a $10,000 USTA Pro Circuit Event.

Vandeweghe, will have a stiff test in her first round as she faces tour veteran Elena Bovina of Russia. Last year Vandeweghe lost to Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko in the first-round of the Acura Classic main draw.
